Wildlife Crossings

Driving home in 100km squally winds, and a sheet of rain was dangerous enough... Okay the winds were only about 50km but hey that's still pretty bad!

Then on a relatively busy road, I was forced to come to a halt by...

A gaggle bevy (thanks Google) of swans decided to cross the road, at peak hour, on a dark, cold, stormy afternoon...

I drive around three lakes on my homeward journey from work to home via kindy. That was lake #1.

At lake #2 on another busy road but even darker and stormier than the swan crossing, I was once again forced to stop and wait for wildlife crossing the road, this time a herd of wild rabbits.

All I can offer from lake #3 is some stupid idiot out running in the rain!

All of this within 8km of the city :)

There was humour on drive-time radio that I wanted to share, unfortunately the clip I wanted to share obviously was not deemed humorous enough, and is unavailable for downloading on the internet.

Sounds annoying, but also kind of exciting...the human one would probably scare me though.

I love that you have spontaneous wildlife crossings so close to the city!!!
I also love that you were able to stop safely for yourself and the animals (all 3! lol) :-)

In Wolfsburg, where I work, we have heaps and heaps of rabbits, too. Guess they´re not too dumb, you find them in my town around university in masses also.
They are a pest, but a cute one :-)

Dina - The human one was kind of scary :)

Alison - I love the wildlife so close to the city here too...

Iris - Yes, the rabbits were pretty cute (even as they zig-zagged through traffic)

Lou - We have Roo Bars here (and I already have one of them)... and not much use on the bunnies!!!!

Sammi - Never know there might be swine next!

Oh, how I miss the black swans I used to see and feed at lake monger back home. Thanks for the nostalgia :)

Rhubarb - And yes lake #1 WAS Lake Monger... When are you coming for a visit to allay your home sickness???

Trish - Very bizarre afternoon. Think even the swans were headed for higher and dryer ground :)
