The Dark Knight

I had a day off today and Boo was at daycare. Rather than do the housework and tackle the insurmountable laundry pile, I took myself off to the movies. You would be surprised at the number of people in the cinema on a wet Wednesday afternoon! Anyhow... about the movie

I wanted to see The Dark Knight before the reviews ruined it for me. You know those blockbusters that every man and his dog has reviewed and by the time you see it, its a huge letdown.

The movie was excellent (but then I haven't been to the movies for over 2 years). Heath Ledger (RIP) was so believable as The Joker, and certainly gave an Oscar-worthy performance. However, I was irritated by Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel the love interest, and think Katie Holmes would have been better (she wasn't that great either). The plot line followed on pretty well from "Batman Begins," though I have heard people say it was difficult to follow. I guess it is the scene cuts but I thought they were more noticeable and annoying in the first movie.

I guess the third movie is in the planning and it wouldn't surprise me if the villain is Harvey Two-Face, as The Joker was seen rising from the debris in the first movie.

Definately worth a view but it is long...
